Haiti

Those poor people in Haiti, another aftershock that was almost as strong as the original quake. The upside I guess is that help is there and supplies are arriving. The downside, how many people were still alive in the rubble? Is this going to hinder or help the search? The Lord works wonders, sometimes things that look like problems turn out to be blessings when we look back on them. For those of you that have read "The Hiding Place", I always remember, "be thankful for the fleas". Those of you that haven't read it need to read it to understand the fleas.

  1. My mom gave me that book to read while i was sick in the hospital during pregnancy with Brady! wow! it is an excellent read! I agree...everyone needs to read it! and then thank the Lord for knowing more than us..and for being there for us. I hope this shock will be helpful! I am just sick about the whole situation...I feel so helpless. 5 Haitian kids were flown into Pella last night to be with their long awaited adoptive parents. One of the families are our friends...i am so happy for them. There is a great need for adoption and foster homes for children from haiti who have lost their homes and parents. We are going to pray and ask the Lord if this is something we need to do and then How? I would love it! But we need to continue to pray for the country and all the people!

  2. I agree it is a sad situation. I makes me feel good that our church was one of the first on site to help with relief.

  3. I need to read that book. It sounds intriguing. I wonder how long it will take for Haiti to revive and get back to how it used to be, or if that will ever happen, I don't know.

  5. The book is awesome!! I think of the fleas during difficult times as well.
I feel so helpless for the Haitian people as well and hope and pray that despite these trials they are able to find some kind of comfort and peace soon.

  6. THAT BOOK WAS SO INSPIRATIONAL. THANKS FOR REMINDING ME ABOUT IT. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT WE CAN CONTROLE OUR FAITH, OUR ATTITUDES, AND LITTLE MORE. THE LORD IS IN CHARGE, BUT HE EXPECTS US TO HANDLE LIFE AND IT'S UPS AND DOWNS WITH CHEERFUL HEARTS, HAVING FAITH IN OUR SAVIOR.

  7. That book is also on my "to read" list. What I found amazing with regard to Haiti is that all the church buildings were basically undamaged and are now being used as make-shift hospitals. It also is such a blessing that all missionaries are accounted for!

I was saddened when I saw that there had been a huge aftershock. I hope things subside so rescue efforts can continue!
